It would appear that Michael Tunnell, the developer of the uGet download manager software for GNU/Linux operating systems as well as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, silently released the fourth maintenance build in the uGet 2.0 series on the first day of 2016.

No one wrote anything about it because the project's website has not been updated with information about the uGet 2.0.4 release, and it remains that way even at the moment of writing this article. However, we've managed to get our hands on the release notes, so we've decided to share them here with you, along with the download links.

uGet 2.0.4 is a small bugfix release that implements the ability to save and restore the width of the download column, adds support for preallocating space for downloaded files by applying the posix_fallocate() function on GNU/Linux platforms and the SetEndOfFile() function on Windows systems in the cURL plugin, and adds a compressed 256x256 icon for the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

Moreover, the schedule form can now be adjusted for large fonts, the filename from remote procedure call (RPC) requests is used for matching categories when the URL does not contain a filename, and a crash that occurred when attempting to simultaneously download more than 32 files was dealt with. Moreover, the height of the summary area can now be saved, and it is possible to adjust the program's speed in the "Speed Limit" mode.
