The development cycle of the upcoming Fedora 24 Linux operating system continues at a fast pace, and Fedora Project's Dennis Gilmore has just announced today, April 19, 2016, two important milestones in the release schedule of the GNU/Linux distribution.

Therefore, starting today, the Fedora 24 Beta is in freeze, which means that developers won't be able to add any new features or software updates to the distribution with the exception of critical fixes, of course. The second milestone marked in the Fedora 24 release schedule is the "100% code complete deadline" Change Checkpoint, which is in effect starting today.

"Today is the Beta freeze. This means that only packages which fix accepted blocker or freeze exception bugs will be marked as 'stable' and included in the Beta composes," said Dennis Gilmore, Senior Release Engineer, Fedora Project. "Other builds will remain in updates-testing until the Beta release is approved, at which point the Beta freeze is lifted and packages can move to 'stable' as usual until the Final freeze."

The Fedora 24 Beta release is currently scheduled to land to public beta testers on May 3, 2016, in two weeks from the moment of writing this blog article, that, of course, if it isn't be delayed again (fingers crossed). The final release of Fedora 24 Linux will hit the streets on June 7, 2016, again, if everything goes according to plan.
