Suman Chakravartula informs us about the availability for download of a new version of his Rockstor 3.8 Linux-based NAS (Network-attached storage) solution, namely 3.8-13.

Prominent new features in Rockstor 3.8-13 include support for user-supplied custom S.M.A.R.T parameters, support for Network Teaming and Bonding, a revamped Services page, the ability to sort services by status in the user interface, better storage unmount logic, as well as improvements to the tooltips.

When installing Rockstor without network, users are now advised to use nmtui, the update of Rock-on metadata is now allowed during installation failures, and an optional SMTP authentication has been added to the e-mail notification setup. Moreover, it looks like adding storage to Rock-ons has just become a lot more intuitive for newcomers.

"We closed 23 issues of different magnitudes in this cycle. The two big ones include adding support for Network Teaming and Bonding, and advanced S.M.A.R.T management support. These features were requested and voted for, by many users which makes us especially happy to finally roll out," said Suman Chakravartula.

Scheduled Snapshot management has seen great improvements

Among other noteworthy changes, Rockstor 3.8-13 improves the scheduled Snapshot management, repairs the pagination of the Samba UI, and adds support for mounting by label consistently on discovery. It also implements extra frequency choices for scheduled tasks and automatically maps /etc/localtime to Rock-ons.

Lastly, access to the favicon has been made more secure, a compression UI bug has been patched, the Samba UI has received improvements to the handlebars template, the S.M.A.R.T self test log parsing and root drive behavior has been improved, and a few other issues have been addressed. As usual, you can download Rockstor 3.8-13 right now via our website.
