Neptune developer Leszek Lesner announced the release and general availability of a new Live ISO image for his Neptune Linux rolling operating system, version 4.5.1.

The new Neptune Linux 4.5.1 ISO is now ready for download and includes all the updated packages and security patches released in the distribution's main software repositories since Neptune 4.5.

With this new ISO image, users will finally be able to install the Neptune Linux operating system on their personal computers using a USB flash drive that supports the USB 3 technology.

Until today, users who wanted to install Neptune 4.5 or previous versions using a USB stick connected to a USB 3 port on their computers weren't able to successfully boot the Live ISO and utilize the OS.

"The biggest issue fixed in this release is the USB booting from USB 3 ports. Besides that, this new maintenance release features KDE SC 4.14.16 as desktop," said Leszek Lesner in the release announcement.

Besides the USB 3 support, the new Neptune Linux 4.5.1 ISO image contains the KDE SC 4.14.16 and KDE Plasma 5.6.2 desktop environments, along with the KDE Frameworks 5.21.0 collection of add-ons for Qt5.

Neptune Linux 4.5.1 is available for download via our website as a dual-arch Live ISO image, for both 64-bit and 32-bit systems, but only for those who want to deploy the OS on new computers. Existing users need to update their installations.
