Today, May 11, 2016, Mozilla quietly pushed the first maintenance version of the Mozilla Thunderbird 45 email, news, and calendar client to users of Linux, OS X, and Windows operating systems.

Mozilla Thunderbird 45.1.0 arrives exactly one month after the release of the major Thunderbird 45.0 version, which finally brought GTK3 integration for GNU/Linux systems, as well as multiple improvements and new capabilities, to address a total of seven issues reported by users.

According to the release notes, Mozilla Thunderbird 45.1.0 was first offered to release channel users on May 10, 2016, disabling the DIGEST-MD5 authentication, which failed in JS-XMPP for some users, as well as the automatic correspondents column upgrade.

It's now possible to drag and drop contact names to the address box

Among other changes, it looks like users will finally be able to drag and drop contact names from the built-in address book (list view) to the address box in a compose window, printing works again in the compose window, and various UI elements will no longer be enlarged when hovering them with the mouse on Macs with Retina display.

Lastly, the font indicator of the compose window will no longer inform users that some fonts are not installed when they are, and the handling of message compose in paragraph mode received multiple improvements. Download Mozilla Thunderbird 45.1.0 right now via our website for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Of course, if you're using Mozilla Thunderbird 45.0 on Mac OS X or a Windows operating system, you can simply update to version 45.1.0 using the built-in updater, which should notify you about the new release. On the other hand, GNU/Linux users will have to check for Mozilla Thunderbird 45.1.0 on the main software repositories of their distributions. Please update as soon as possible.
