14 DAY TRIAL // Just a few minutes ago, Antoni Norman, the developer of the Ubuntu-based Pinguy OS GNU/Linux operating system, wrote a short blog post on the distro's website to inform the community that he wants to pull the plug on the entire project.
If you’ve never heard of Pinguy OS yet, we can tell you that it is a pretty decent Linux kernel-based, desktop-oriented operating system usually based on the latest LTS (Long Term Support) version of the popular Ubuntu Linux distribution. For example, the current version, Pinguy OS 14.04.4, is based on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (Trusty Tahr).
Well, all good things must come to an end, and it looks like Mr. Norman is about to take the hardest decision of his life and close shop, of course, mostly due to financial problems. "It costs me more to run than I get from the project. The project is a sink hole," said Antoni Norman on today's announcement.
We, here at Softpedia, have always been supportive and promoted the latest news about the Pinguy OS operating system and its sister projects, such as the recently released Pinguy Builder, a Remastersys alternative that users can use to create their own Ubuntu-based or Pinguy OS flavor, which apparently could not help the project from sinking.
