It's June 1, which means that another awesome month starts for Linux users and that we can get our hands on a new ISO image of the Arch Linux operating system.

Yes, that's right, Arch Linux 2016.06.01 monthly ISO respin is now live, available for download right now from the distribution's website, which had a few hiccups earlier but should be okay now, as well as via our website.

As usual, the new ISO image of Arch Linux includes all the latest package versions and security patches that were released on the main software repositories of the operating system during the month that has just passed, May 2016 in this case.

Therefore, if you have decided to deploy Arch Linux on some new computers, you can now download the Arch Linux 2016.06.01 image, which, as usual, is available as a dual-arch ISO, supporting both 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386) platforms.

Now powered by Linux kernel 4.5.4

The Arch Linux 2016.06.01 ISO respin includes Linux kernel 4.5.4, the same version that's available in the operating system's repos for a while now, as the latest maintenance in the Linux 4.5 series is 4.5.6, as of today, June 1, 2016.

Unfortunately, Linux kernel 4.6 remains in the Testing repositories at the time of writing this article, as it probably needs more patches before it hits the stable channel and it's pushed to the Core repo for users to upgrade.

We've said it before, and we will say it again, existing Arch Linux users don't need to download anything to keep their installations up to date. All they have to do is execute the "sudo pacman -Syu" command from time to time.

The monthly Arch Linux ISO respins are for newcomers who want to install the operating system, existing users who have decided to reinstall the OS for various reasons, as well as those who want to deploy Arch Linux on new systems and don't want to download all the updates since May 1, 2016.
