Today, July 13, 2016, Untangle Inc. security software and appliance company has proudly announced the release of the Untangle Next Generation (NG) Firewall 12.1 operating system.

Based on the latest Debian GNU/Linux technologies, Untangle NG Firewall 12.1 introduces a host of new features and functionalities to the widely used and powerful Linux firewall platform designed for small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as governmental organizations, various educations institutions, and nonprofits.

"Version 12.1 is the next step in the evolution of the Untangle NG Firewall user interface," said Dirk Morris, founder and Chief Product Officer at Untangle. "Building on the base provided by the last two major releases, version 12.1 provides a fully responsive mobile management console as well as faster performing, more flexible reporting and dashboard widget capabilities."

Here's what's new in Untangle Next Generation (NG) Firewall 12.1

Release highlights of Untangle Next Generation (NG) Firewall 12.1 include new geolocation capabilities for all traffic that have been injected directly into the built-in Rules Engine, allowing sysadmins to create and apply rules based on client's country or latitude/longitude coordinates, as well as multiple enhancements to the user interface.

The new Geolocation functionality has also been implemented in Untangle's widgets and reports components and enables network administrators to triangulate threats much faster and immediately generate an appropriate policy response. For more details, we recommend that you update your Untangle installation to version 12.1.

Other changes include event-based reporting, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate management, Google and Facebook authentication support, and a bunch of performance improvements that allow Untangle NG to perform a dynamic bypass function for the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) transport layer protocol. Untangle Announces NG Firewall Version 12.1 is available for download right now via our website.
