Today, August 23, 2016, the development team behind the CoreOS security-oriented GNU/Linux operating system have released the CoreOS 1068.10.0 stable update, along with new ISO images for all supported platforms.

According to the release notes, CoreOS 1068.10.0 is now powered by the Linux 4.6.3 kernel, which, unfortunately, it reached end of life last week with the Linux kernel 4.6.7 maintenance update. However, it appears that the new Linux kernel 4.7 branch is already used in the CoreOS Beta and Alpha development milestones.

Among other updated components included in CoreOS 1068.10.0, we can notice systemd 229, for which a timer assertion issue was fixed, rkt 1.7.0 App Container runtime for Linux, Docker 1.10.3 application container engine, fleet 0.11.7 distributed init system, as well as etcd 0.4.9 and 2.3.2 service discovery packages.

Last but not least, today's CoreOS 1068.10.0 stable build corrects the nameserver option parsing in systemd's networkd daemon for managing network configurations, addresses a timer execution calculation issue in systemd, and improves journald’s resilience to ENOSPC errors.

As mentioned before, CoreOS 1068.10.0 is now the latest stable version of the security-oriented GNU/Linux distribution used for creating and maintaining open source projects for Linux Containers (LXC). You can download the CoreOS 1068.10.0 ISO image right now via our website, and check the project's homepage for the more advanced Beta and Alpha builds.
