It's been a little over a week since we told you all about Marius Quabeck's awesome new tool that lets you easily install the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system on your device, and it looks like the developer was quite busy adding new functionality.

First and foremost, the magic-device-tool now has a cool new logo that we think looks really great, so congrats to the artist (Michael Kisiel). And now for the hardcore stuff implemented since the first release, as users will now be able to install the Maru operating system on their Nexus 5 devices.

"I'm happy about the small community that has built around the project so far and we are constantly adding ideas to the todo," says Marius Quabeck exclusively for Softpedia. "Just recently someone suggested to add snappy to magic device tool so it gets easier to flash the required snappy image for your specific device onto an SD card."

Another interesting change is the ability to install Sailfish OS on your devices, including Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and OnePlus One. Additionally, the Ubuntu Touch rc-proposed channel is now available for Nexus 5 smartphones, and there's an "RTFM" surprise for you if you don't clone the tool from its GitHub page.

Ultimately, the new version removes the Ubuntu options for Nexus 10 devices, and fixes the Android ones. Future versions of magic-device-tool will add support for even more devices, support for installing F-Droid, the "add udev rule" option, support for installing Plasma Mobile, and Zenity support for success and failure prompts.
