On November 27, 2016, Chakra GNU/Linux developer Neofytos Kolokotronis informs the community about the availability of a set of new software updates for the rolling distro originally based on Arch Linux.

A week ago, we reported on the availability of the cups 2.1.4-3 and pepperflashplugin 23.0.0.207-1 packages in the Chakra GNU/Linux repositories, which required manual intervention from the user. And after some issues with their hosting provider, the promised KDE goodies are finally here, along with numerous other updates.

"As you have probably noticed, this move took a while to reach stable due to the issues with our main server, which resulted in a downtime of 2 days for our website and all the related services. There was nothing we could do, since our hosting provider experienced a major subsystem malfunction," said Neofytos Kolokotronis in the announcement.

Here's what you'll get if you update your Chakra GNU/Linux OS today

As you might imagine, you can now enjoy the latest KDE technologies, including the KDE Plasma 5.8.4 LTS desktop environment, KDE Applications 16.08.3 software suite, KDE Frameworks 5.28.0 collection of add-on libraries for Qt 5, and KDE4 support libraries distributed as part of KDE Development Platform 4.14.26.

Apart from that, it looks like KDE's Kirigami 1.1.0 UI framework for developing convergent mobile and desktop apps has been added to the Chakra GNU/Linux repositories, along with Qt Creator 4.1.0 and KDevelop 5.0.2 IDEs (Integrated Development Environments), and Choqok 1.6.0 instant messaging client.

Other updated packages include OpenJDK 8.u112, cURL 7.51.0, GraphicsMagick 1.3.25, DKMS 2.3+git161025, cpupower 4.8.6, Eclipse ECJ 4.6.1, NDISwrapper 1.61, SDDM 0.14.0, PyPy 5.6.0, net-tools 1.60.20160710git, Rust 1.13.0, tzdata 2016i, Hugin 2016.2.0, Wine 1.9.24, Inetutils 1.9.4, SCons 2.5.1, winetricks 20161107, and libxi 1.7.8.

You'll receive all these goodies if you update your Chakra GNU/Linux OS today, or at your earliest convenience. To update, simply run the "sudo pacman -Syu" command in a terminal emulator or use the Plasma Discover package manager. Please note that it might take up to 24 hours for all mirrors to be syncronized with the main server.
