Centel is now distributing LinspireEspañol, the Linux operating system for laptops and PCs.

SAN DIEGO, October 12, 2004 -Centel, S.A. de C.V. and Linspire, Inc. today announced Centel's distribution of the LinspireEspañol™ operating system in Mexico. This partnership marks the first wide-scale distribution of desktop Linux computers and software through the distribution channel in Mexico.

Centel's incorporation of LinspireEspañol into its product offerings gives distributors the opportunity to compete in the marketplace by offering a full-featured, complete operating system, including a Microsoft® Office-compatible office suite, Internet browsing, email, games and media players at a much lower price than comparable operating systems. More information about LinspireEspañol can be found online at http://www.linspire.com/espanol.

"Centel now offers LinspireEspañol - a dependable new operating system with excellent price and margin," said Hector Yubeili, Director of Purchasing of Centel. "This continues our philosophy of offering our distributors products that give them a competitive advantage so they can do more business, more profitably."

The partnership with Linspire further enhances Centel's position as the leading OEM distribution wholesaler in Mexico with more than 20,000 customers nationwide. Centel is the first Mexican distributor to offer LinspireEspañol. More information on Centel can be found online at http://www.centel.com.mx.

"We're pleased to partner with Centel, the leading distributor in Mexico, to bring affordable computing to new users throughout Mexico," said Michael Robertson, chief executive officer of Linspire, Inc. "Thousands will now have access to an affordable, legal copy of LinspireEspañol - the easy-to-use operating system with a complete office suite written in their own language."

To implement this partnership as quickly as possible, Centel is offering a demonstration of LinspireEspañol in its Mexico City headquarters from October 11-15. From October 18-22, Centel will conduct workshops for its distributors where resellers will receive training on the LinspireEspañol operating system. Resellers who participate in the training will receive a copy of LinspireEspañol.

The products that Centel will commercialize as a distributor for Linspire includes Linspire 4.5 in Spanish, which includes a Microsoft Office-compatible office suite, and a 1-year CNR service subscription that permits access and one-click downloads of more than 1,900 software programs from Linspire's CNR Warehouse™. These products are available for sale starting the third week in October.

"Linspire is such an economical choice for PC users," Yubeili said. "The price is so affordable that people will be less interested in getting a pirated copy, when for just a little more, they can get a legal copy of the product and benefit from service and support."

(Free LinspireEspañol licenses limited to the first five days of training sessions, 40 people per session. Cost of course: $200,00 MN + IVA, about $20 USD.)
