[February 17, 2004] Open Solutions' Architecture Supports Linux Open Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ:OPEN), a provider of integrated data processing technologies for community financial institutions, announced it has successfully completed its Linux pilot program and has validated Linux running in a live processing environment.This provides financial institutions with yet another option for implementing the company's core relational solution. Designed and based on an open architecture, Open Solutions' single-platform data processing solution has the ability to run in a Windows, UNIX or Linux environment on a wide range of hardware platforms used in the industry. Open Solutions is utilizing Linux on the primary Oracle database servers that support The Complete Banking Solution(R) (TCBS) and The Complete Credit Union Solution(R) (TCCUS), the company's relational core data processing systems for banks and credit unions. In addition, Open Solutions' Technology Outsourcing Center, a multiple institution servicing center that is using many advanced technologies, also has Linux operational, giving financial institutions an additional application service provider (ASP) option. Institutions have the choice to process either in-house or through the secure outsourcing center, and in either case the application is designed to be identical in appearance to the end-user financial institution. The open design of the system provides clients with additional advantages. This includes running Linux on Blade Servers, which can provide significant scalability at lower cost. Additional advantages include reduced risk of fault or failure, the ability to easily add additional storage and load balancing to distribute processing power. Open architecture and a relational database core system design enable Open Solutions to provide its clients with capabilities that are not available on legacy-based systems.
