The KDE Project announced the third point release of the latest stable KDE Plasma 5.14 desktop environment series, a bugfix update that continues the trend of improving the stability and reliability of this widely used desktop environment for Linux-based operating systems.

Coming about two weeks after the October 23rd release of the KDE Plasma 5.14.2 point release, the KDE Plasma 5.14.3 point release continues to improve the new firmware update functionality implemented in the Plasma Discover graphical package manager, as well as support for the Flatpak and Snap universal binary formats.

"Today KDE releases a bugfix update to KDE Plasma 5, versioned 5.14.3. Plasma 5.14 was released in October with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds two weeks' worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bugfixes are typically small but important," reads the announcement.

Additionally, the KDE Plasma 5.14.3 update improves the Plasma Audio Volume Control applet to allow it to connect to the PulseAudio sound system with Qt 5.12 beta 3 or later, and adds the ability to swap Trash/Delete by using Shift while the menu is open in the Plasma Desktop.

The appropriate icons are now used for the Plasma Audio Volume Control plasmoid and Plasma Networkmanager (plasma-nm) applet, KWin's Desktop Grid, Present Windows, Invert, and Thumbnail Aside effects received various improvements, and there are some minor changes to the Breeze theme, Plasma Workspace, Plasma SDK, and Plasma Addons.

KDE Plasma 5.14.4 point release arrives November 27

The next step in the release cycle of the KDE Plasma 5.14 desktop environment series is the KDE Plasma 5.14.4 point release, which is expected to arrive later this month on November 27 with an extra layer of improvements and bug fixes to make this release one of the more stable and reliable ever.

Until then, we recommend all KDE Plasma users to update their installations to the KDE Plasma 5.14.3 point release, which should soon land in the stable software repositories of the most popular GNU/Linux distributions in the coming days, as soon as possible. More details about the changes included in this release are available here.
