This release includes numerous updates and bug fixes

The KDE Project released over the weekend the monthly update to their KDE Frameworks open-source software suite, version 5.55.0, which brings numerous improvements for users of the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

Just in time for the February 12 release of the highly anticipated KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop environment, the KDE Frameworks 5.55.0 open-source software suite is now available with dozens of improvements, updates, new features, and countless bug fixes. First and foremost, the Breeze icon theme received lots of new icons, so you should see a pleasing refresh after updating your KDE Plasma desktop to KDE Frameworks 5.55.

Moreover, the exiv2extractor utility received support for BMP, GIF, WebP, and TGA image formats, taglibwriter received support for additional mimetypes, the KIconThemes, KService, KXMLGUI, and Solid components are now built without D-Bus on Android, KNotification received Android notification channel support and support for Android API level < 23, and KTextEditor got a bunch of improvements too.

Among other noteworthy changes included in the KDE Frameworks 5.55.0 release, we can mention AsciiDoc support in Syntax Highlighting, better support for the Wayland display server, improved keyboard controls of the checksum widget and new helper function to disable redirections in KIO, and support for KLauncher to handle exiting of processes without errors.

Of course, numerous other components have been updated with bug fixes or small improvements, including Plasma Framework, Sonnet, QQC2StyleBridge, ModemManagerQt, KWidgetsAddons, KRunner, KPty, KPackage Framework, KNewStuff, KJS, KItemViews, Kirigami, KImageFormats, KHolidays, KDESU, KDeclarative, KCrash, KConfig, KCodecs, KArchive, and more.
