Intel's Clear Linux OS project have launched new developer bundles tailored towards Linux developers for their Linux-based operating system optimized for the Intel Architecture.

While Clear Linux OS isn't as popular as Ubuntu, Debian, or Arch Linux, it always proved to be a viable and quite fast Linux-based operating system for desktop and server users, offering them the best performance possible on the Intel Architecture. Clear Linux OS follows a rolling-release model where you install once and receive updates forever.

Clear Linux OS always wanted to be the Linux distribution for developers, but now Intel has announced new images, an updated installer, software store, and forum all dedicated to make its open-source operating system a playground for Linux developers of all sizes, genres, and ages, offering them curated content for the best development efficiency possible.

"We started chipping away at a development environment where the user experience is tailored towards Linux developers, one daily release at a time. Early adopters have already provided us valuable user experience input influencing us to provide new images, an updated installer, software store, and forum to better connect to our community," said Ianeta Hutchinson in a press release.

Here's what Clear Linux OS offers to Linux developers

With its new toys, Intel's Clear Linux OS project aims to be the number one choice for all Linux developers. As such, developers will be able to install developer bundles with a simple command, which will offer them all the relevant tools they need for developing in C (c-basic) or for container use-cases (containers-basic).

Clear Linux OS now aims to help Linux developers compile code faster by defaulting to the latest GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 9 series as system-wide compiler and continues to provide a multi-build approach for developers building on Intel AVX-512 (Advanced Vector Extensions 512) and Intel AVX2. Intel also plans to upgrade to GCC 10 as soon as it's released.

A FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace) debug system was implemented as well to eliminate the need to install debug packages. Additionally, developers will now have the option to choose between the GNOME (default), KDE Plasma, Xfce, LXQt, Awesome, and i3 desktop environments/window managers. You can download Clear Linux OS right now from the official website.
