From the creator of tinyminds.org and linuxfoo.org comes a new website designed to make it easy to find different Linux distributions and tools.

Linuxtracker.org is a Bittorrent tracking site that allows users to post and share files relating to all things linux. Most of the files currently available consist of Linux distributions, from Knoppix to Debian Linux. Using Bittorrent technology, downloads are shared between users. Although file-sharing technology has received a lot of bad press, for free and open software there are no legal issues using the technology.

Linuxtracker.org is community based, once someone registers as a member they can submit new files as well as use more advanced features of the site. The site accepts both local (linuxtracker specific) and external torrents. As membership grows, downloads will become faster and more reliable. In the first couple of months, more than 100 files have been uploaded and more than 400 members have joined. Members can also rate files and post comments. In the future there will be a Torrent/Linux FAQ and announcements to keep the community informed.

Requests for specific torrents can be emailed to requests@linuxtracker.org.
