Recent survey found that open source databases were overwhelmingly preferred for open source ERP applications.

(PRWEB) November 10, 2005 -- Can open source software play a dominant role in the $15 billion database software market? The answer, according to a recent survey, is a resounding yes.

The survey, conducted by Sequoia Open Source ERP, found that over 90% of respondents preferred to use an open source database for their open source ERP application. In contrast, only 7% of the respondents preferred to use a commercial database such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.

“This seems to confirm the theory that as users become comfortable with one open source solution, they will naturally look to other open source software to fulfill their needs,” notes Si Chen, Principal of Open Source Strategies, Inc. “As open source ERP and CRM applications mature, they could become a key driver for open source database adoption.”

Sequoia Open Source ERP is an open source ERP and CRM application which is compatible with all major databases and can be downloaded from http://www.sequoiaerp.org Open Source Strategies, Inc.
