DataCore Offers Rapidly Growing Financial Services Company a Low-Cost, Scalable SAN Solution Plus Fast Disk Backup and Recovery Capabilities

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Homebuilders Financial Network, a division of Fidelity National Financial, has selected DataCore Software as a low-cost option to add inexpensive storage to meet its growing capacity requirements brought on by continued growth and the company's need to go paperless. DataCore's SANmelody(TM) made it affordable for Homebuilders Financial Network to use low-cost disks for the storage needed to go paperless. Going paperless is a big advantage for a financial services company that competes for business based on efficiency, excellence in customer service and fast response.

"Homebuilders Financial Network is unique from an IT standpoint in the fact that we treat loans as if they were part of a production line process," said Jaime Soto, information technology manager, Homebuilders Financial Network. "Going paperless obviously means we need to manage more storage, but it's worth it since you can make the whole process faster and easier. That is, it's worth it if you can do it at the right price. With DataCore, we were able to afford the capacity we needed to give us room for growth."

DataCore's SAN went live in late October 2005 at Homebuilders Financial Network. The SAN includes two Dell servers and two Dell storage arrays powered by SANmelody software. Multiple application machines and SQL servers are connected to the SAN through Fiber Channel connections. All applications are accessible to users and mortgage processors using Citrix. "We set aside ten days for the installation and I was pleasantly surprised that we got it all done in seven," commented Soto. "This included installing the software, setting up configurations and migrating storage from older systems."

"DataCore will enable us to manage all of the scanned images associated with a mortgage file," added Soto. Ultimately, one file will be associated with a loan agreement, and each of these files will typically be around 30 megabytes in size. These files normally comprise 250 to 300 document pages, half of which are scanned images. The database capacity Homebuilders has in place is currently at two terabytes and the IT team at Homebuilders Financial Network sees the data they manage possibly doubling next year.

In terms of advanced features of DataCore's SANmelody solution, Homebuilders Financial Network is utilizing high-availability network mirrors and snapshots to create point-in-time images of the storage to protect the data and to enhance recovery. More than 400 users at Homebuilders Financial Network will be supported on the system. About Homebuilders Financial Network

Homebuilders Financial Network, a division of Fidelity National Financial, creates, staffs and operates mortgage finance companies owned by homebuilders nationwide. Often referred to as the creator of the "mortgage company in a box" solution, Homebuilders Financial Network has successfully established mortgage companies for numerous local, regional and national homebuilders. By focusing on the integration of mortgage finance with new home sales and leveraging an interest rate "auction" for its clients, Homebuilders Financial Network brings considerable savings to home-buyers and increased profits to homebuilders. Since Homebuilders Financial Network acts as a facilitator of the mortgage finance process, rather than a lender or servicer, it enables builders to capture and retain buyers throughout home buying processing by offering "one-stop" shopping, a high level of service and low financing costs. By selling the mortgage along with the home, builders who run their own mortgage company can make significant additional income per unit sold. Fidelity National Financial, Inc.
