Industry Luminaries Line Agenda for Only Event Dedicated to Desktop Linux

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Desktop Linux Summit today announced that Linux industry giants Novell and Red Hat have signed on as platinum sponsors for the show, which is the only event to focus exclusively on Linux and open source software for the desktop. In its fourth year, the Summit will be held April 24-25, 2006 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in downtown San Diego, California. Early bird registration is now open for attendees at http://www.desktoplinuxsummit.com.

The Desktop Linux Summit exhibit hall will feature key companies driving the future of Linux and open source, including Novell, Red Hat, HP, Linspire, Trolltech, Via Technologies, Revelation Software, desktop migration agent provider Alacos, and FarStone, a company that specializes in optimizing system recovery and performance. The Desktop Linux Summit also provides a forum for new companies entering the Linux space. More details on Summit sponsors can be found at http://www.desktoplinuxsummit.com/sponsors.php.

One of the best reasons to attend Desktop Linux Summit is the unprecedented gathering of speakers the event has on the agenda. Not only will innovators like Doc Searls and Novell's Nat Friedman be speaking, but attendees will hear from a lineup of Linux experts to hear case studies and best practices on topics including emerging markets, migration, Linux for SMBs, desktop Linux in educational markets, and open source for corporate desktops. A list of speakers and agenda are available at http://www.desktoplinuxsummit.com/agenda.php.

New this year to the Desktop Linux Summit is the addition of the Tux Squad Linux Install Fest, an event where all Summit attendees can have a Linux distribution installed on their computer during the show. Volunteer experts from Linux User Groups and sponsor companies will be on hand to answer attendee questions about Linux and help them install the operating system. For more information about the Linux Install Fest, visit http://www.desktoplinuxsummit.com/tuxsquad.php.

The Desktop Linux Summit is now open for attendees to register at http://www.desktoplinuxsummit.com. Early-bird registration for the full conference is $75, including passes to keynotes and all other sessions plus a free T-shirt. Passes into the exhibit hall only, which is open at 9 a.m. both days, are $20. For more information about the Desktop Linux Summit, please contact:
