Turbolinux, Inc., a global leader of Linux-based solutions, today announced that it was honored with an NEC CLUSTERPRO Award for Best Sales of Linux High Availability Clustering Software at the CLUSTERPRO 10th anniversary celebration.

Turbolinux has been selling NEC CLUSTERPRO Linux OEM version since 2000. The latest CLUSTERPRO OEM release, Turbolinux Cluster HA 3.1, which contains an Operating System and various applications, has earned market leadership as a one-stop-service solution.

NEC dominates the Linux cluster software market in Japan, according to a report recently released by leading international market research firm IDC entitled HA Clustering/Server Virtualization Software 2005 Market. The comprehensive survey, which details market sales, system nodes and system numbers for the clustering software market in Japan, revealed that NEC ranks number one for sales revenue, systems shipments and nodes, further substantiating NEC's role as the market leader in Japan for High Availability Clustering solutions.

"Congratulations to Turbolinux for its CLUSTERPRO Best Sales Award. Since our partnership started with Turbolinux in 2000 with the launch of CLUSTERPRO for Linux OEM version, its total sales have outpaced other partners. This award validates Turbolinux's knowledge of CLUSTERPRO as well as High Availability Clustering systems for the Linux platform," said Masato Yamamoto, director of computer software division, NEC Corporation.

NEC also honored Turbolinux for playing a significant role in the sales of CLUSTERPRO Linux version, citing that was a significant factor in NEC's ability to gain market share as a Linux High Availability Software provider.

The adoption of High Availability Clustering Software has been accelerated as some major financial firms offer accounting system software using Turbolinux Cluster HJA3.12 as a free ASP service for SMBs. Recovery, backup and provisioning are additional benefits driving the adoption of High Availability Cluster Software.

"Turbolinux is honored by this recognition from NEC," said Koichi Yano, COO and president of Turbolinux, Inc. "We will continue to expand market share in the mission-critical clustering market, and promote High Availability solutions such as Turbolinux Cluster HA 3.1."
