Midsize Enterprises to Benefit From Automated Application Recovery Capabilities

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- InMage Systems, the pioneer in event-based continuous data protection for the enterprise, and Xiotech Corporation, a provider of data storage and data discovery solutions, today announced the industry's first application-level push-button recovery technology for midsize enterprises. Companies seeking a comprehensive data protection solution that safeguards data across tiers will now benefit from a consolidated approach to data protection that features local and remote replication of both file and block data, application-level recovery, and enterprise backup in a single, easy-to-manage package.

"The vast number of replication products on the market creates considerable confusion for users as they sift through incomplete products hoping to support business objectives," said Mike Stolz, vice president of marketing for Xiotech. "The combination of InMage and Xiotech technologies provides a comprehensive backdrop for the development of complete, easy-to- manage replication solutions."

"We are pleased to partner with Xiotech, bringing our consolidated data protection approach to midrange environments," said Kumar Malavalli, CEO and chairman of InMage. "This relationship leverages strong synergies between the two companies, from both a market and a technological perspective, that will provide the end user with an affordable approach to protecting company data enterprise-wide."

As a result of the partnership, the companies will offer plug-and-play appliances that provide medium-size businesses with selectable levels of data protection depending on the importance of the data. Customers have the option of implementing local and remote replication of both file and block data, application-level recovery, and enterprise backup. This design provides the best data continuity solution for a wide variety of operating environments including Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP/UX, AIX, and Mac OS X.

"Both InMage and Xiotech place a strong emphasis on the medium-size enterprise and offer products optimized for this space," said Rajeev Atluri, CTO for InMage. "With powerful enterprise-class features at a midrange price point and products that are engineered for simplicity, customers adopting these solutions can greatly reduce their capital and operational expenses while putting their storage infrastructure on a par with systems found in the Fortune 500."

"Xiotech has long been a favorite in the mid-market because its products are so easy to use. With the addition of InMage, Xiotech customers now have excellent disaster recovery capabilities even more effective than many of the big shops -- without all of the complexities," said Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "This should be a real win-win relationship."
