Open Source CRM and Linux-Based Messaging Combine

Open source CRM provider SugarCRM and Scalix, a provider of Linux-based enterprise messaging software announced today a partnership to integrate their services and make available to their mutual customers, an advanced CRM / Messaging solution that offers both open source and Linux customers a rich environment for completing tasks.
 
Recognizing the increased adoption by enterprises of Linux and Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook, SugarCRM is further integrating with Web based messaging to allow enterprise Linux and Outlook to also function with their open source service.
 
For enterprise sales teams, the integration means a more efficient environment for managing sales and customer accounts and a seamless move between Outlook, email and SugarCRM software on the Linux environment. These advanced capabilities enhance efficiency and help improve the chance of closing a sale.
 
Some of the advanced features available by running Sugar's Outlook Plug in were also outlined in a recent news release:
 
-- Full ability to sync shared information between Sugar and Scalix, including contacts, calendar items and tasks

-- Email archiving from the Scalix inbox into Sugar

-- Rules-based sync of designated customer contacts, messages and appointments

-- Integration with Scalix's award-winning AJAX web client, called Scalix Web Access (SWA), will be available in Scalix's next release. SWA is so fully featured that many of Scalix's users around the globe are using it as their primary email client.
 
"The collaboration between Scalix and SugarCRM will be a huge advantage for customers and resellers building open enterprise systems. It gives customers best of breed commercial open source CRM and industrial strength messaging, integrated on the highly reliable and scalable Linux platform. We look forward to seeing the benefits," Gordon Hubbard, managing director of Custom Technology Australia, Pty. Ltd., one of their VAR partners, said in a statement.
