It has been a while since we last reviewed an ASRock motherboard, but this budget manufacturer has kept churning out new and more innovative products. The ASRock motherboard we have our hands on for this Linux and Solaris review is the ALiveNF7G-HDready, which combines NVIDIA's GeForce 7050 and nForce 630a MCP with a wealth of integrated extras such as IEEE-1394a Firewire to offer a rather good package for its low price. This motherboard is also capable of handling 720p H.264 video playback with low CPU Utilization and HDCP decoding through supported software.

We have used ASRock motherboards over the course of several years, and even with the many different ASRock motherboards, they all generally have about the same accessories with the ALiveNF7G-HDready being no different. Included with the motherboard was one SATA 2.0 data cable, one molex to SATA power adapter, I/O bracket, ribbon IDE cable, ribbon FDD cable, and two driver CDs. The ASRock product packaging is rather simplistic with just a cardboard divider between the motherboard and all of the other contents, but we've actually never experienced a damaged ASRock motherboard from this packaging.
