Fedora adds support for SELinux

Red Hat's free Linux distribution, Fedora, has added support for the security enhanced modules created by the NSA and known as SELinux, a media release from the company says.

Fedora Core 2 test2 was made available for download on Tuesday.

SELinux is basically a patch to the Linux kernel to add security features, and patches to applications to allow them to determine the security domain in which to run processes.

Fedora Core 2 is based on the recently released 2.6 kernel and includes the next generation NFS protocol (NFSv4), GNOME 2.6 rc1 and KDE 3.2.1.

The Fedora Project aims to work with the Linux community to build a complete, general purpose operating system exclusively from free software. It also serves as a test bed for new technologies before they are included with Red Hat's products aimed at businesses.
