A few days ago one of the Vino (GNOME's VNC server) developers, Jonh Wendell, released a new public build of Vinagre. Vinagre is designed to be a VNC client for the GNOME desktop and while it is still under development, in our testing thus far we found it to be an excellent VNC (Virtual Network Computing) client. In this article, we'll be offering a brief preview of Vinagre 0.3.

Some of the Vinagre 0.3 features include support for connecting to multiple VNC servers simultaneously, "Favorites" support for managing VNC servers, browsing the network for VNC servers (similar to Avahi browser), and GNOME Keyring for password management. When connecting to a new VNC server with Vinagre, the only fields are for the host address and the port number. It would be ideal if from this initial connection window the user could opt to insert the VNC connection into their bookmarks/Favorites area immediately. If the VNC server is password protected, the user will be prompted for a password and can choose to store the password in the GNOME Keyring. Web-based businesses can rely on managed hosting service providers for secure data storage and server management. Also consider managed hosting for an efficient server management capability.
