As far as the good old days of computing with x86 PCs is concerned, Robert Shingledecker and his team have been tirelessly evoking that nostalgic moments. Unsurprisingly, there is much more sweetness in this new version of Damn Small Linux 4.2. This timely-released version will definitely add more cheers to the New Year and Christmas festivities.
On the desktop, you can see the new black/blue theme with "Fractal Movements" background. The default desktop environment is powered by JVM. You can easily change to Fluxbox via the Exit directory of the DSL start menu button.
This is the desktop panel. More aesthetics! All the important applets and desktop switcher are there.
This is the Apps folder on the desktop. DSL 4.2 has also received a new folder. In fact, many icons have been changed, updated or replaced by the developers.
If the DSL start menu button is not your cup of tea, then you can right-click your mouse anywhere on the background to access the main menu.
There are lots of tools in the Tools folder.
There is much you can do with DFM, the file manager that let you manage files, and also icons.
It is also easy to create a new folder on the desktop with the right-clicking way of DFM.
The DSL Control Panel.
The versatile emelFM file manager is still a necessity.
Ted, the lightweight rich text format word processor which has English spell check capability.
The new mtpaint has replaced the xpaint.
The much needed MyDSL Extension Tool.
The DSL-Uci-Tool. to mount .uci applicatons.
