Review: Solus 1.0 "Shannon"
(This is a review of the new independent Solus with the Budgie DE, not of the old Debian-based SolusOS with GNOME 2.) Budgie looks slick, but there are a bunch of small usability issues that add up to make for a somewhat frustrating user experience in conjunction with niggles from GNOME 3. Also, the software selection is a bit sparse, but that can definitely change over time.
Fedora plans formal upgrade leapfrog scheme
Support for version X to X+2 upgrades coming in Fedora 24. Red Hat senior quality assurance engineer Adam Williamson has revealed that the Fedora community is trying to deliver what it's calling “N-1” upgrades whereby it becomes possible upgrade from version X of Fedora to version X+2 without having to first install version X+1.

Arch Linux Gets Reader’s Choice ‘Best Distro’ Award
While Arch’s taking of the gold wasn’t much of a surprise, given the distro’s commanding performance in the qualifying poll, round two results below the top slot were a little different from what we expected. Elementary OS took second place, with 502 votes, just three percentage points behind the winner. In the qualifying round, Elementary wasn’t even offered as a poll choice and only made the final round due to a write-in campaign from the Elementary community.
