Bynari and Broadleaf Partner to Deliver Turnkey Groupware Appliance Automatically Serves, Stores and Protects Mail and Shared Calendars for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses. Bynari's Outlook-compatible Microsoft Exchange(TM) alternative now available on Broadleaf's no maintenance self-protecting ARCHEON server platform to deliver affordable groupware with instant onsite recovery and one phone call disaster recovery.

Bynari, the Dallas-based Linux groupware software company, and Broadleaf Services, a Boston-based provider of managed business data continuity platforms have announced a partnership that will provide the small to mid-sized business market with an appliance-based groupware service. The turnkey offering gives companies a "plug it in and go" communication and collaboration platform that requires no IT expertise to install. The solution is supported by managed services that include automated data protection as well as remote monitoring and maintenance to provide high reliability while reducing the total cost of ownership. These features are further enhanced by a guaranteed cost-free recovery process after data loss or facility disaster.

The Bynari Insight Appliance powered by Broadleaf ARCHEON features a business server appliance pre-loaded with Bynari Insight Server installed on the customer's office network. This appliance, supported by ARCHEON's built-in onsite file protection and recovery services, remote monitoring, and maintenance, backup and recovery services, creates a zero-maintenance, zero-backup and cost free disaster recovery groupware proposition for cost-conscious customers.

"The Bynari Insight Appliance delivers big enterprise email and file serving capability at a price affordable to small businesses," explains Hyun J. Kim, President, Bynari, Inc. "Our channel partners have been asking for a turnkey no-maintenance appliance solution. The fact that Broadleaf has wrapped automated data continuity and predictable disaster recovery into this affordable package make for a very compelling customer solution. Small businesses can now deploy a truly hands-off enterprise class groupware solution that serves their mission-critical email and calendaring needs while guaranteeing uptime at a price that makes sense for them."

Bynari Insight is a highly reliable, scalable, and cost effective messaging and collaboration server that reduces IT costs without sacrificing productivity. Bynari is also end user-friendly, as Insight allows users to continue using Microsoft Outlook(TM) on the desktop while eliminating Microsoft Exchange Server(TM) on the back end. Alternatively, a robust web-based mail, contact, shared calendar interface is available to users to manage these tasks.

Broadleaf CEO James Tenner emphasizes, "Our platform lends itself well to providing a protected, fully managed appliance for Linux applications as it blends seamlessly into Microsoft Windows or Novell networks while eliminating customers' server ownership and maintenance issues. Additionally, Broadleaf's ARCHEON platform proactively protects customers' groupware application and data as well as integrates automated onsite and offsite data protection resulting in a cost free, predictable recovery path for all data loss scenarios, including physical disaster. This unique approach eliminates the need for customers to manage manual tape backups, which have a greater than fifty percent failure rate in recovery operations."

The Bynari Insight server will automatically backup the appliance's daily data changes to Broadleaf Services' secure, protected data center. These offsite backups provide for a one phone call disaster recovery solution after theft or physical disaster. When disaster strikes, Broadleaf will rebuild an exact clone of the lost server and ship it to the customer, next day delivery in most cases. This recovery service is cost-free to Bynari Insight Appliance service customers. Customers need only plug the replacement Bynari Insight Appliance into the network and users will be back online immediately accessing email, calendars, and their important files just as they were before the loss.

The Bynari Insight Appliance, powered by Broadleaf ARCHEON will be available immediately for customers and partners in the United States with customer pricing starting at under $10 per day, with international availability expected in July 2004.
