Minimal Linux Live is a set of small shell scripts which build very minimal live Linux OS entirely from source code (Linux kernel + BusyBox). The released version 25-Aug-2014 brings some major improvements compared to the previous version.

Some of the improvements are:

  • The boot process is now based on /sbin/init and /etc/inittab.
  • The shell scripts have been updated and comment lines have been added. The most notable change is in 5_generate_rootfs.sh which generates file/folder structure compatible with /sbin/init and /etc/inittab.
  • The download process now supports interruptions which means that partially downloaded source bundles will continue to download the next time the scripts are executed.
  • There is a separate 'source' folder which holds the downloaded source bundles. The 'work' folder is used only to compile the sources.

  • You can find the latest sources and pre-built ISO images on the project's website: http://minimal.linux-bg.org
