JDS Community introduces kernel 2.6.8.

The community web site team, introduced JDS users to kernel 2.6.8-1 for testing. Once the new kernel is installed, the user has the option to use his or her existing JDS Linux distribution or boot into the most recent kernel.

In addition to the an upgraded kernel, the JDSHelp team has also provided pre-release installation of the Looking Glass Desktop, upgrades of popular consumer applications and server upgrades including version 3 of samba, rdesktop, apache, etc.

JDS, which stands for the Java Desktop System, is a GNU/Linux distribution designed for enterprise use. The JDS Community site has created support for users wanting the look and feel of Sun's desktop and the addition of popular Linux applications.
