CGL 2.0 Distribution Complies with Free Standards Group’s LSB Standard for Increasing Interoperability Among Linux Distributions

Pittsburgh, PA – February 10, 2005 – TimeSys® Corporation, a leader in embedded Linux® technologies and development tools, today announced that its OSDL Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) 2.0 reference distribution for PowerPC is the first embedded Linux distribution to conform to the Free Standards Group’s Linux Standard Base (LSB) 1.3 specification.

The widely-endorsed LSB specification was developed to increase interoperability among Linux distributions and enable software applications to run on any compliant system. It offers developers an assurance that a core set of applications and application programming interfaces are provided by LSB-certified distributions. This simplifies the development and porting of applications, offers a greater level of binary compatibility to Independent Software Vendors and protects end users from being locked into proprietary solutions.

“The achievement of LSB certification is a natural extension of our leadership as the only embedded Linux vendor commercially supporting OSDL CGL 2.0,” said Larry Weidman, president and CEO of TimeSys. “We are strongly committed to integrating the most advanced technology into our products while driving and supporting the standardization efforts critical to the continued market adoption of Linux.”
