An area of research for Hiser+Adelstein and Associates deals with localization issues of Linux. Sam Hiser spend a great deal of time on localization issues when he worked as the marketing lead for Openoffice.org in the US. As we establish our 24x7x365 community support network, we have contacted Linux users around the globe. You will see more about this in the coming weeks.
I discovered Muslim Adel Abu Taha's work at http://www.arabian.arabicos.com/ recently. I also found his post at this link.

Hi for all,
Any one like to know more about Arabian Linux 0.6 beta 1 can read the change-log at: http://arabian.arabicos.com/change-log.htm
About this distro;
I created it using knoppix and kurumin ( Brazilian distro based on knoppix created by Carlos Eduardo Morimoto). The aim of this distro is to be a simply distro and solve all Arabs users problems, such Arabic language support and the most dramatic problem "Fax Modems drivers". Arabian come with the most supported drivers for softmodems. To use a driver there is no need to compile drivers, all drivers were compiled and added, only thing stay is a modprobe command
The first release of Arabian was only a hobby for me. I help on Kurumin development ( Since I born and learn on Brazil ) by adding comments, errors, fixes, help users, etc... and in another distro based on kurumin called Kalango (Brazilian too). I decided to create my own distro to help more on kurumin development, to test things...
But one day I saw an announcement on linux4arab. The announcement was to create an Arabic distro, the manager of the project was Mr. Ahmad Beckdash.
I don't care to that when I read it, but at home I thought more. I starting sending an email to Ahmad saying that I have a live distro, and we can use it as a base to the project. Ahmad accept it, but we stopped a while for some reasons, at 05/12/2004 I sent Ahmad an email saying that I really want to proceed with this project. A testing distro ( Arabian 0.5 ) was added to download at 10/12/2004, and I say about it only on montada.com. The aim of that is only tests. I have tested Arabian very well, but I need to know more bugs. I thought at beginning that a less number of people will download the distro, but in about 1 month we have more than 350 downloads, and I gain a new helper, Mr Khalid.
The new release was posted 9/1/2005 but no official announce to now, Ahmad don't finish the site to now, I'm waiting him finish it to announce officially.
We haven't seen a follow up on the distribution, but encourage people to review this distribution. Screenshots are available at http://www.arabian.arabicos.com/snapshots.htm
