Winners to be Announced at Open Source Business Conference

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Linux developers from around the country are working hard in the hopes of winning the $50,000 Grand Prize in the Realm BlackDog Skills Contest. The prize will be awarded for the best application created and ported to run on BlackDog.

The Grand Prize winner will be selected from first prize winners in each of five categories: security, communications and networking, entertainment, productivity, and miscellaneous. The remaining four first prize winners will each receive a cash prize of $5,000. The Grand Prize winner will be announced at the Open Source Business Conference (OSBC) in San Francisco, February 14-15, 2006. The contest began October 15, 2005 and will end January 15, 2006.

BlackDog is a pocket-sized, self-contained server with a built-in biometric reader and Debian-based Linux operating system. Unlike any other mobile computing device, BlackDog contains its own processor, memory and storage, and is completely powered by the USB port of a host computer with no external power adapter required.

"We know that some of the contestants are holding their applications close to the vest until January," says Steve McCool, Realm Director of Sales. "We are less than 6 weeks from the deadline and the 'Dogpound'-the Realm online forum-is very active with open discussions and application ideas ranging from security to robotics."

BlackDog purchasers gain access to the Dogpound where new applications, support, and forums exist to help developers. "What began as an engineering hobby has now reached cult status among Linux programmers who rave about the BlackDog's cool design and compact, portable processing power," said Rick White, Realm CEO.

"We're excited about the sales response to BlackDog," continues McCool. "In addition to Linux developers, we now have Fortune 500 companies purchasing BlackDog to evaluate it as a stepping stone to our Mobile Personal Server-the enterprise version of BlackDog." About Realm
