There was a time when people talked about Latin American "Banana Republics" that would do what the US told them to do. Does Microsoft have a Banana Standards body now?

So far, Microsoft is on a roll at Ecma. The Technical Committee that is chartered to make a standard out of the schema it created to preserve Microsoft Office documents has been approved, with only one vote against (IBM) and one abstention (HP) and with the Terms of Reference that limit what the TC can do by all indications, unchanged. There was a time when people talked about Latin American "Banana Republics" that would do what the US told them to do. Does Microsoft have a Banana Standards body now?
