First FIPS 140-2 compliant performance optimization software delivers expanded security for Government sector

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- TeamQuest Corporation, the global leader in IT Service Optimization (ITSO) software, today announced a new network encryption feature that provides Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 encryption for its suite of performance optimization software. TeamQuest 9.3 enables IT organizations to gather and analyze performance data for distributed systems with the enhanced security of encryption software that complies with strict government standards.

FIPS 140-2 is a government standard that helps validate security claims for technology products using cryptology to ensure the secure transfer of information. The FIPS 140-2 standard is recognized by the U.S. government, as well as federal agencies in Canada (CSE), Europe and Australia and is used by financial organizations due to the sensitivity of the information they share and store.

"TeamQuest is known for providing advanced solutions to optimize distributed IT systems, and now offers the enhanced protection of encrypted data transfer," said TeamQuest CEO, Jerred Ruble. "Prospective customers told us they needed the communications between our components to be secure."

"For customers working with or within the federal government of the United States, the encryption technology validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as being FIPS 140-2 compliant in this product meets their strict security needs," said Ruble.

Many federal sites are required to use FIPS 140-2-validated encryption for network communications. The TeamQuest 9.3 release was created specifically for the federal government, and uses software modules from RSA Security that have been validated by NIST as FIPS 140-2 compliant.

FIPS 140-2-validated encryption products also help companies meet the IT compliance requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other federal directives. FIPS certification also benefits TeamQuest resellers and integrators selling to the government, as they can now deliver a wide-range of cost-effective network security products that are validated for use in government environments.

The software's encryption feature is available for use with the following platforms: -- AIX 5.2 & 5.3

-- Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 on x86

-- Windows Server 2003 on Itanium

-- Solaris/Sparc 8, 9 and 10

-- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 & 4 on x86 and Itanium
