DataPipe Partners With Technology Pundit and PBS.org to Deliver Online Television Series

HOBOKEN, N.J., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- DataPipe, a global provider of managed hosting and security services, announced recently that it has joined Robert X. Cringely and PBS.org to help deliver the online TV series, NerdTV (http://www.pbs.org/nerdtv). Cringely, a computer journalist and broadcaster, is the creator and host of the series.

Launched in September, 2005, NerdTV marks an innovative step for online entertainment. Each week it features a one-hour interview with an important figure from the world of technology. Past guests have included the company heads and founders of Google, PayPal, Sun Microsystems, Apple Computer and Linux.

"This program has an enormous amount of buzz in the tech community and we are pleased to be able to support the project," said Robb Allen, CEO of DataPipe. "We believe in the concept and are big fans of Mr. Cringely and his work."

The concept behind NerdTV is progressive, both for the length of its clips and the treatment of its content. Regarding the former, it is one of the few programs available on the web to offer clips exceeding a few minutes in duration. As for the latter, the show is available for download in MPEG-4 format and presented under a Creative Commons license, which allows viewers to use the footage in their own video productions.

"The success of this site depends upon several, mainly technical, aspects working together," said Cringely. "To have the experience and depth of knowledge of DataPipe on our side is a great asset to this project." About DataPipe
