Argus Systems Group Announces an MLS Linux Kernel
SAVOY, Ill., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Argus Systems Group, the global leader in trusted web foundations, today announced the release of PitBull Foundation and PitBull Foundation Suite for Linux. Users can now have MultiLevel Security (MLS) on a Linux platform. PitBull Foundation for Linux - compatible with the Linux 2.6 kernel - is built on proven security technology. It offers users the ability to protect Linux systems at the core of the system, from within the kernel. PitBull Foundation is an add-on product that converts the basic operating system to a trusted operating system (TOS). PitBull Foundation Suite is a set of utilities to simplify installation as well as enhance operational efficiency. The features and functions of PitBull Foundation for Linux are similar to those incorporated in the recently released product PitBull Foundation for AIX. PitBull Foundation for Linux uses the Linux Security Module (LSM) to add the new functionality. The Foundation code base for Linux will be released under the GPL and submitted for inclusion in the mainline kernel. Argus plans to submit this product for evaluation under the Common Criteria LSPP at EAL 4+. Discussions are underway with potential sponsors and the evaluation should be completed by the end of this year. PitBull Foundation is also available for Solaris 8 and AIX 5.2 and 5.3. PitBull Foundation for AIX 5.2 has been evaluated under Common Criteria LSPP at EAL 4+. PitBull LX, a secure kernel modification built on the Domain Based Access Control model, is also available for Linux and Solaris, and will soon be released for AIX.
