OpenOffice.org's latest and greatest secret marketing weapon: WHY?

Our OpenOffice.org insider reveals that OpenOffice.org marketing project is about to be revamped: "This initiative, called «WHY OpenOffice.org?» is the answer of the community to some (rather justified) critics that it has so far not achieved the same level of marketing efficiency as its cousin, the Mozilla community. So much for the critics, because the Marketing Project of OpenOffice.org is going on a slow but assured pace towards change."

After almost a month of absence, I am back here and well alive. After some problems caused by computer crashes and one european research project later, I will reveal (well, yes, with the blessing of the concerned ones) the latest, meanest and perhaps the most ambitious marketing initiative of the OpenOffice.org so far. While the OpenOffice.org development team is switching its release process to a 3 months basis, the Marketing Project is busy working at a total revamping of the way the OpenOffice.org marketing and proselytism activities are carried out.

This initiative, called «WHY OpenOffice.org?» is the answer of the community to some (rather justified) critics that it has so far not achieved the same level of marketing efficiency as its cousin, the Mozilla community. So much for the critics, because the Marketing Project of OpenOffice.org is going on a slow but assured pace towards change. The integration of an internal wiki that is now used not just by the developpers but by almost everybody including the marketers, a revamped three-headed leadership of the marketing project and the more direct inclusion of members from the Native-Language projects seem to bring a lot of fresh air in one of the oldest projects of OpenOffice.org .
