Network vendors promote Linux for carrier networks

The SCOPE Alliance, a grouping of major telecoms networking equipment vendors, has published a profile for a carrier-grade Linux operating system. The profile builds on the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) carrier-grade Linux requirements definition version 3.2 (CGL 3.2). It describes a subset of the mandatory CGL 3.2 features and prioritises the CGL 3.2 'roadmap' items that SCOPE deems necessary to support carrier-grade base platforms for network equipment providers.
