Ingres Appoints CA's Sam Greenblatt to Board of Directors

Mark Barrenechea Retains Board Seat Representing Garnett & Helfrich

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingres Corporation, the leading business open source database company, today announced the appointment of Samuel Greenblatt, senior vice president, Innovation for CA, Inc. to its board of directors. CA has an ownership stake in the Company and maintains the right to appoint a member to the Ingres Board.

Greenblatt is responsible for overseeing CA's open standards, open systems, research, intellectual property, government technical standards, and CA Labs. Previously, he served as senior vice president for technology, working with the company's executive management team to help formulate CA's strategic technology direction, and has served on technical advisory boards for several of CA's largest customers. He also was the chief architect for the Linux Technology Group at CA and continues his involvement in the Linux community as a member of the board of directors for the Open Source Development Lab (OSDL) and as a member of the Architecture Board at The Open Group. Greenblatt also serves on the board of the Object Management Group.

Ingres also announced that Board member Mark Barrenechea, who recently joined Ingres's parent company -- private equity venture buyout firm Garnett & Helfrich Capital -- would continue his tenure on the Ingres Board. Barrenechea had previously served as executive vice president and chief technology officer for CA and was their appointee to the Ingres Board. David Helfrich, managing director of Garnett & Helfrich, has stepped down from the Board in order to devote more attention to other Garnett & Helfrich investment interests.
