No; this time it’s no open letter from me, or from us. It is from Floris Kraak, and it was published in LWN.net here. For those of you who need an update about why binary & closed source (video) drivers are to be considered evil, read this - and please also follow the comments, like in the above article as well.

Compare it to a globetrotter, who would prefer to ride that old Yamaha XT500 instead of taking that new shiny Beamer 735i, which no mechanic would be able to repair anymore without a laptop and the (of course closed source) software of BMW… plus that old motorcycle gives you a lot more freedom of course than any air-conditioned tin can could ever offer.
