OpenBeOS: It's Alive and Well

As we witness the release of Windows Vista to the world at large, I thought it was interesting to see the evolution of BeOS coming back into the spotlight. Today, the spirit of BeOS remains alive and well in OpenBeOS' latest incarnation, known as Haiku.

The mission behind Haiku is to offer the open source admirers with a simplified, integrated desktop operating system without the perceived conflict that developers see with Linux. To be honest, it reminds me a lot about ReactOS, as it’s really stretching for an audience. With that said, BeOS fans will undoubtedly be thrilled once the first release is offered for download.
