50 000 Linux Desktops deployed in Brazil

BitWay Computadores, EnabledPeople and IMTECH Brazil companies today announced that they made large PC desktops deployments for «Computers for All» Brazil federal government program. Ready PC solution provided by Bitway includes preinstalled Linux XP Desktop operating system developed by EnabledPeople and supported by IMTECH. Estimated month deployment is about 10000 desktops with 50000 desktops already delivered.

According to a partnership agreement signed before between EnabledPeople and IMTECH, the companies will work together on Latin America Linux solutions market. IMTECH will represent EnabledPeople’s interests, sale EnabledPeople’s products and provide technical support on Portugal by phone and by web helpdesk for the products. «Computers for All» is the first joint project of the companies under this partnership.

To meet the «Computers for All» Program requirements, EnabledPeople and IMTECH rebuilt Linux XP Desktop, adopted it to The Program specifications, performed full Portuguese localization and included specially built hardware drivers (some modem drivers were built in Motorola company specially for the project). The final desktop solution was highly appreciated by BitWay.
