Google and Mozilla: Nobody Wants an OS from You

For a software programmer, one of the ultimate projects that you could ever be involved with is an operating system. We're so used to building applications for the OS that the idea of actually working on the mother ship itself can seem like something that could never happen.

Of course, most of us aren't even qualified to step foot near an operating system and act like we can add new code to make it sing, but that hasn't stopped people before. Just because you provide a great piece of software, that obviously doesn't mean that you should translate it into some sort of an OS or desktop environment (such as KDE or GNOME), but even so, many are calling for that exact thing to be done.
