While the folks at http://thelinuxbox.org were ironing out the logistical details of running their home desktop kit PC contest. They happened upon a Linux installer model http://thelinuxbox.org/Net_installer.html that could also help the GNU/Linux community generally. And is a logical extension of the joint 2004 predictions of Brian Proffit and Eric S. Raymond on the Linux Show http://www.thelinuxshow.com/archives/2004/tls-01-06-2004.mp3 (minute 31:50-35:00) that the various core distributions would all move to a dynamically upgradeable unified repositories model.
