SALT LAKE CITY, Mar 29, 2004 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Devicelogics(TM), Inc., provider of DOS- and Linux-based embedded systems technologies, today began shipping KDeBUG(TM) 1.0. This commercial Linux debugger includes an industry-leading color scheme interface and error tracking features that greatly expedite the debugging process for embedded OEMs.
KDeBUG is built upon the KDB Linux kernel patches supplied by SGI. KDeBUG provides an enhanced interface and feature set upgrade to what SGI calls its "KDB minimalist kernel debugger."

KDeBUG is designed for use by the broad spectrum of Linux developers creating modules, file systems, device drivers and protocol stacks. KDeBUG also serves as a great "window" for Linux newcomers to understand how the Linux kernel works. KDeBUG shows unassembly (or disassembly) in Intel standard format.
KDeBUG offers an almost limitless breakpoint interface with conditional breakpoints utilizing Boolean expressions, register contents, memory contents, memory changes, port usage and more. KDeBUG has an integrated screen management layer separate from the Linux screen functionality, allowing for more precise debugging to a "stopped" Linux kernel. This separate screen infrastructure allows KDeBUG to debug the Linux screen functions, which is not possible in KDB. KDeBUG also provides extensive user interface upgrades to KDB, exposing code, symbols, registers, register changes across "single step" execution, and more -- all utilizing color schemes on display for easy visualization.

KDeBUG is largely self-contained, relying only on a single patch to KDB. KDeBUG relies on its own screen management and keyboard (versus relying on the Linux kernel during the debug session), allowing for a cleaner debug session.
KDeBUG 1.0 is immediately available for $499 per development seat. Aggressive educational, volume and unlimited site licensing options are available. Devicelogics offers OEMs a "Try-Before-You-Buy" development program.
