IT solutions and services company in Japan teams with OpenLogic to assist customers with open source management

BROOMFIELD, Colo., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenLogic, Inc., a provider of enterprise open source software solutions encompassing hundreds of open source packages, today announced a strategic partnership with Aegif, a leading enterprise content management systems (ECM) consulting and IT services provider in Japan.

In November, 2006, Aegif announced that it was an Alfresco Gold partner in Japan. Aegif employs experienced consultants who offer strategic advice and solutions on content and document management -- and has a wide variety of clients including the largest companies in Japan.

As a part of today's agreement, Aegif will use OpenLogic to provide and support the open source software needed to run major open source ECM products, as well as other open source packages. The underlying software stacks needed to run ECM open source products in Japan are often different than in the U.S. and require localized support.

In addition, Aegif will use OpenLogic Discovery to help clients inventory open source packages installed on its customers' networks. OpenLogic Discovery finds and identifies installed open source packages, including packages that were not explicitly installed but were bundled with other software, on Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms. OpenLogic Discovery then provides a detailed inventory of the open source software identified on the system, including version numbers for each package found. Even files that have been partially installed, moved or renamed will be included in the resulting inventory list.

"We are excited to extend our reach further into Japan through this partnership with Aegif," said Steven Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. "Aegif has established itself as a leading ECM consulting and IT services firm -- and OpenLogic brings the tools and skills necessary to make open source a viable alternative in the Japanese market."

"As open source adoption in the enterprise accelerates in Japan, there is a growing need for solutions that help organizations identify and manage open source software," said Kenichiro, Fujii, CEO of Aegif. "OpenLogic understands the needs of the Japanese market -- and is helping us provide world class IT services and support for the ECM market."

OpenLogic's offerings include:

-- OpenLogic Jumpstart Open Source Inventory program, which utilizes the OpenLogic Discovery tool to quickly and easily provide an inventory of open source packages installed on every system in your company. The program also provides comprehensive, enterprise-wide open source inventory reports and access to professional analytic and consulting support.

-- A certified library containing hundreds of open source packages that are certified and indemnified by OpenLogic

-- Technical support for every open source package in the certified library, backed by open source contributors and committers in the OpenLogic Expert Community

-- The OpenUpdate service, which keeps companies up-to-date on the latest patches and releases

-- The OpenLogic Enterprise technology platform, which lets customers enforce open source policies and automate open source integration and deployment
