Why We Need a $200 Linux Notebook in the US

Without a question, having access to a truly entry level notebook like this one running Linux is going to make a lot of lower income families very happy. Ringing in at $189 USD, this provides users looking for a click and type workstation for a very reasonable cost.

As Microsoft continues to make great progress with their enterprise efforts, one can only question where they are in the midst of innovations like this, especially in international markets? Not too long ago, I had stated that Vista really ought to have provided some kind of LiveCD, so users could gage the version that is best for them. I went on to explain the value of 30-day CD trials and even pointed out that this would provide a better value-added experience for their users. Apparently, this is not happening - the live CDs, not the customer's experience. Where is the end-user innovation?
