openITis.com Launched: Carries Linus Torvalds’ First Interview With Indian Media

One month ago LINUX For You magazine made a call to the Linux/OSS community to send in questions it has for Linus Torvalds. We were overwhelmed by the amount of questions we recieved. It took us a whole night to sort out the best ones. The final setlist? 35 questions. We did not number them just so he doesn't get frightened by just that number. In fact, we had his answers within hours; makes me think we could have sent him a few more? Anyway, without furthur ado, here's Linus Torvalds: blunt, excellent and descriptive...

Linuxforu.com has morphed into a much bigger and better avatar, now called openITis.com. It was launched on 15th August, on the occasion of India's 60th Independence Day. And they could not have done it at a better time! Considering the prevalent opinion that India is a net taker rather than a giver to the open source community, this site promises to be a step towards bridging that gap.



Most of the content of Linux For You magazine is going to be opened up under a Creative Commons license and made available on the website. But more than that, if used well, openITis.com could prove to be a good platform for Indian developers and users to connect with each other and with global projects – to share tips, discuss issues, collate ideas, blog, contribute content, and so on. The site will also point users to the best content already available on the Web, in addition to original content developed by the Linux For You and EFY Times teams. The community can also contribute content to openITis.com.



There are various sections that cater to CXOs using (or considering the use of) open source software in their enterprises, developers, professional users, newbies, etcetera. The website is still in the alpha stage, so the team invites users to send in their comments, suggestions and bug reports to lfyedit@efyindia.com.



What more, openITis.com has made its appearance with a big bang. It carries a mega interview with Linux Torvalds – the first big interview of his to appear in the Indian media. He answers around 35 questions put forth by the global FOSS community on the Linux kernel, technology, and the Indian OSS perspective.
